Hear a short progression of chords in a key, then identify each chord by roman numeral. Start with the classical three-chord foundation (I, IV, V) and unlock more of the diatonic vocabulary — ii, vi, iii, vii° and the seventh chords — as you get progressions right. Every progression is a fresh random diatonic sequence drawn from your enabled vocabulary: it opens on the tonic and cadences on the tonic or the dominant, 2 to 8 chords long.
Choose piano, guitar or synth; leave the tonic reference on to hear the I chord first, switch to a sustained drone for extra support, or turn the anchor off for a harder question. There is also sight-singing practice, interval ear training, melodic dictation and a metronome, or go back to the Solfege home page. JavaScript must be enabled to use the app.
